Hello to members new and old,
The Huon Valley truly is a special place. The generosity, love and support our community has shown over the past two weeks for parents JB, Claire and son Van has blown us away. Whether you were lucky enough to attend over the past two "Run/Walk for Van" Social Saturdays, wore yellow to raise awareness for Angelman's syndrome, donated a gift for our silent auction or was able to spare any loose change to raise money, we can't thank you all enough for the impact you have had!
Special shout out to those supportive and generous businesses and individuals that donated to our silent auction over the weekend.

Social Saturday

We knew that this week was going to be an amazing turn out but we were lost for words on the extent. This was our biggest Social Saturday run/walk group we have had and we couldn't have been more proud of the Huon Valley community plus our visiting friends.
We wore yellow, we cheered each other on but most importantly we supported an incredible and loving family,
Social Saturdays are a perfect avenue to connect with people over a walk/run or delicious coffee.
Hobart Marathon Festival

A huge congratulations goes to our RMC members that participated in the Hobart Airport Marathon Festival held on Sunday. We were so pleased to see some awesome results spread across the 5km, 10km and half marathon.

Karen Weger ran an amazing half marathon in 2:09.39! That's an average of 6:08min per km! Jordan Lovell boxed on well, not letting a half time pit stop at the Sandy Bay Maccas get in the way of a brave performance, running a 1:36.55 half marathon.

Xanthee Pastoor had a big break out run in the 10km smashing her goal time of under an hour, running 53:18! Michelle Williamson and Ellen Summers both had gutsy runs in the 10km.
Shaun "The big bad Wolfe" returned to competing in style with a 22:49 in the 5km along with some great performances from Simone Watson, Gabby Pettit and a long awaited debut from Angela Longey!
If you would like to view the results click here, search "Run Move Connect" in the team section.

Strength/Recovery and Cardio Session Details

FOCUS THIS WEEK IS SINGLE LIMB LOAD
This is a great opportunity to work on balance and improving single limb control for running and walking.
Single leg load is what we do in everyday life and is great for injury prevention (hence why we like to keep it in quite regularly).
It focuses on trunk control, trunk alignment, knee stability, upper body mobility and movement patterns.
Light- moderate resistance but focus on slow movement with great technique.
Challenge your stability but be mindful that upper body stability is very hard when loaded too heavy.

GENERAL CLASS REMINDERS
Please bring your own mat to recovery sessions.
Please take SWEAT TOWELS and drink bottles with you throughout the session. We have new RMC sweat towels, don't hesitate to purchase one if you struggling to find one.
Always chat to our instructors if you want to learn more about resistance exercise and its benefits.
All sessions are designed and developed by Hannah, if you have any feedback, please pass it on.
If you have any new or old injuries that you are carrying, please don't hesitate to let our instructors know so we can tailor the program to you. It is so important for you to feel supported and cared for at your Run Move Connect sessions.

Feedback Form
We get amazing feedback from our members and it continues to assist us meeting the needs of our members and providing the best service. We thought it is time to make this an 'official' form and we welcome your feedback.

Youth Engagement Program
With school/team sport starting up throughout the valley, is it a great opportunity to get your children involved in structured strength exercise to learn about their body, load management and for injury prevention.

Brad and Hannah are very passionate about getting the whole community moving and this includes our Huon Valley youth. Run Move Connect are proud to announce a Youth Engagement program which provides youths in our community a 6-week all-inclusive pass to RMC sessions. This program is tailored for 10-18 year olds who are interested in getting active within our community.
"This program will provide these young people with an opportunity to better understand the benefits of exercise and fitness training on their overall health and wellbeing. The project will be aimed at young people who are not currently engaged with a community group that promotes a healthy lifestyle and will promote the benefits of being part of such"
At the conclusion of this 6-week program a "youth membership" option is available. Priced at $15 a week, we hope to see our youth engagement graduates continue to run and get strong within our community.
If you know of any young member of our community that this may interest, please do not hesitate to email Brad or Hannah at hello@runmoveconnect.com.au
