Hello Members,
Another great week with our RMC community! Lots to celebrate this week!
New Instructor- Jas Wilson
Jasmyn has lived in the Huon Valley for approximately 11 years. Despite growing up in the small town of Wynyard on the Northwest Coast of Tasmania, she has strong connections to the Huon community and area, as her mother, grandmother and extended family were born and raised here.
Having spent over 10 years working in the disability and aged care sectors, Jas has a continuing passion to assist and support others to achieve their goals. Within this, acknowledging the significance of any movement as exercise, never taking this for granted and the benefits that it has holistically for wellbeing and longevity. She believes that small consistent efforts are the pillars to achieving individual goals, having confidence in the structure of the RMC classes and community to see every member reach these.
Jas is an avid runner, encouraging others around her to give themselves the opportunity to find fulfillment within the activity before mentally checking out. She started her running journey in 2016 by entering the Cadbury 10km event with the goal of completing the race without stopping. She succeeded and has never looked back.
In her spare time Jas enjoys exploring the beautiful state that is Tasmania and can often be found wandering Mount Kunanyi and enjoying a chai from the Lost Freight Café. She also enjoys spending days at home in the garden, baking, studying, and spending quality time with her family.
Jas will start taking classes this week- Wednesday 6:30pm and 7:30pm

Running Event News
Did someone say, trail running? YES! With a quieter upcoming July/August period on the Tasmanian road running scene, we will start to turn our attention to some of Tasmania's most beautiful trail running events coming up!

TOLOSA HALF AND QUARTER TRAIL RUN - This is an authentic mountain half-marathon that offers incredible diversity and is challenging. Runners in both events will leave the edge of suburbia, before the open woodland gradually morphs into a denser and greener mixed forest. From towering eucalypts to the lichen-ridden dolerite, the Tolosa Half and Quarter have it all. Runners will need to navigate some technical rocky terrain, but overall, these are courses that flow very well.
The Tolosa Quarter (Sport | 9.8km) sees runners turn around at the Old Hobartians Track while the Tolosa Half runners will keep going for more jaw-dropping views and intricate hand-made wooden bridges, to The Springs, which are approximately the halfway point. Then it’s a beautifully flowing descent along the purpose-built North-South track.
Ross Running Festival - RMC will be well represented with a number of our members making the trip to the midlands to participate in what will be a fantastic event. The Ross Running Festival will be held on Sunday the 24th of September offering a range of different distances available for all abilities! If you're keen to join us for a great run in this historic town the click HERE. A timetable of events is provided below.
7:00 am Marathon
8:00 am Half Marathon
9:00 am 10km
9:30 am 5km
10:00am 2km (Children’s Challenge)
DOVER FUNRUN - Boasting one of the most scenic fun run routes, the Dover Fun Run takes runners along the foreshore of Port Esperance, with stunning views of the bay and the iconic Adamsons Peak. The Dover Fun Run (Tassal Ten and Annabelle’s Run) was born out of a long-standing desire to give back to the community, in thanks for the wonderful support for the Skinner family in their time of need. This running event is a fundraiser! All profits will go the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the Royal Hobart Hospital. You can also donate to PICU during the registration or on the day. Online registrations close Friday, 3 November 2023 at 11 pm. Numbers are limited! Join team Run Move Connect by clicking HERE to register!
If you have any questions about any of the events and would like to find out more please get in contact with Brad.

STRENGTH SESSIONS
FOCUS THIS WEEK IS SINGLE LIMB
It is single leg load this week but could be a big focus on balance and improving single limb control for running and walking.
Single leg load is what we do in everyday life and is great for injury prevention (hence why we like to keep it in quite regularly)
It focuses on trunk control, trunk alignment, knee stability, upper body mobility and movement patterns.
Light- moderate resistance but focus on slow movement with great technique.
Challenge their stability but be mindful that upper body stability is very hard when loaded too heavy.
GENERAL CLASS REMINDERS
Please take SWEAT TOWELS and drink bottles with you throughout the session.
Please advise the instructor if you have any new or old injuries that they should be aware of or will impact your training. We will support you with your exercise and provide alternative exercises.
Please be prompt to classes as we aim to start demonstration on time.
