16/10/2023 - Weekly newsletter for Run Move Connect members!

bradleykitto

Hello to all of our RMC Members,

What a fantastic community week we have had at Run Move Connect.

Health and Wellbeing Expo

On Thursday, RMC participated in the Huon Valley Health and Wellbeing Expo. The expo showcased activities and services in the Huon Valley and was a fantastic opportunity for health providers to meet and exchange passionate ideas. It is incredible to meet so many talented health professionals in the Valley and if you are seeking advice on wellbeing services in our community, please reach out and we will point you in the right direction.

Hilltop Hike

CONGRATULATIONS to all of our awesome RMC Hilltop Hike participants who braved the weather for an awesome cause on Saturday. The event is held with the aim to improve the mental health and well-being of the Huon Valley with a new beneficiary chosen each year. This years event was raising money for our much loved Huon Valley PCYC to help fund and increase the capacity of the Youth Drop-in centre.

Run Move Connect should be so proud! We had over 44 entries for the day, we raised the most money out of all the teams and was awarded the first team to have 10 finishes which won us the team challenge! Along with winning first male, first female, first junior male and first junior female!

This will be an event that RMC will build towards each year and are already looking forward to the 2024 event.

CONGRATULATIONS 🥳

A massive congratulations goes to Karen Weger for completing her first marathon in one of Australia's biggest marathon festivals, Melbourne! The Marathon is a lot more than the race itself, the journey to prepare yourself in the 16 weeks leading into the event can be the biggest challenge of all. Karen's preparation has been nothing short of incredible and she should be so proud on what was a fantastic effort she executed on Sunday

It was roughly 2 years ago Karen joined Brad for Reba Sears first ever Social Saturday, to think she ran roughly the same pace for the marathon as she did for that Saturday 2 years ago goes to show the growth and progress Karen has made.

Well done Karen, you are an inspiration and we are all SO PROUD OF YOU!

DOVER FUNRUN - Boasting one of the most scenic fun run routes, the Dover Fun Run takes runners along the foreshore of Port Esperance, with stunning views of the bay and the iconic Adamsons Peak. The Dover Fun Run (Tassal Ten and Annabelle’s Run) was born out of a long-standing desire to give back to the community, in thanks for the wonderful support for the Skinner family in their time of need. This running event is a fundraiser! All profits will go the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the Royal Hobart Hospital. You can also donate to PICU during the registration or on the day. Bruny Island ultra marathon relay - That's right, it's that time of year for one of Tasmania's most enjoyable distance running events. It's not very often you get to participate in a distance running event like this in a relay style.

Get a team together from 2-8 people (ideally, no more than 6) and travel from the top of Bruny Island (Dennes Point) all the way down to the bottom to the lighthouse. 1 team member runs at a time whilst your team vehicle meets you at your next check point. Check points are at every 2km. You can ran as far or as little as you like.

We know there are lots of people interested in this event this year. If you are keen to organise your own team please go ahead. If you are wanting to participate and don't have enough people to make a team, please message Brad directly to show your interest. We will do our best to find a spot for everyone.
