19/12/2022 - Weekly newsletter for Run Move Connect members!

Hello Members New and Old,

What a brilliant week and a fantastic way to celebrate the year that was, at our RMC Christmas Party.

Thank you so much for celebrating with us!! It was so beautiful to see all the adults and kids enjoy Santa and his helper, lawn bowls and the silent disco. Who would have thought that 40 balloons would have been so interesting and fun. We loved seeing you all connect with each other however we did miss our members that couldn't be there due to other commitments and sickness.

We hope you have a special Christmas and New Year period. We're looking forward to our last week of group training this week! We will be back on board on the 2nd of January.

For the week between Christmas and New Years (Monday 26th of December to Sunday 1st of January) we will have home exercise sessions available for you to complete. Hannah and Brad will send you through the link for these sessions.

We were going to reduce class times over January however we have decided we will continue with the same schedule, without the 7:30pm time slot. We know how much you are enjoying your sessions and there is no better way to kickstart your New Year than with a RMC session.

Please see below for updates on the weeks ahead.

COVID Update

We thought it would be a good time to remind everyone on the RMC recommendations around COVID, close contacts and illness at our sessions.

If you are unwell with cold or flu symptoms, please conduct a rat test and don't attend classes if symptomatic. If you are asymptomatic and tested negative, then you can return to classes.

If you are a close contact, we recommend that you conduct a rat test straight away. We have encouraged individuals to wait at least 2 days, after exposure to a Covid positive case, before coming to classes. The infectious period is two days prior to developing symptoms after contact with a positive case.

If you are asymptomatic and test negative, then you can return to classes after this two-day period.

For further information, please follow this link

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact. We are here to keep our community safe and well.

Strength Session Details

  • Our focus this week will be ECCENTRIC LOADING.

  • The focus is on very slow and controlled movement patternd, particularly on the stretching out of the muscle

  • Eccentric exercises allow the muscle to repair to then build stronger and bigger muscles- fantastic way to get stronger faster

  • Tips from Hannah- use moderate to heavy resistance weight if your technique is perfect, complete 8 repetitions maximum and be very controlled. Always discuss with the trainer where you should feel the exercise.

  • We are here to support you with your exercise so please do not hesitate yelling out for technique help.

  • Always chat to Hannah if you want to learn more about resistance exercise and its benefits.

  • All sessions are designed and developed by Hannah, if you have any feedback, please pass it on.

  • If you have any new or old injuries that you are carrying, please don't hesitate to let Hannah or Brad know so we can tailor the program to you. It is so important for you to feel supported and cared for at your Run Move Connect sessions.

  • Please take SWEAT TOWELS and drink bottles with you throughout the session. We have new RMC sweat towels, don't hesitate to purchase one if you struggling to find one.

Social Saturday

A smaller group at running this Saturday (might have been a few tired individuals after our Christmas Party). A lovely run along the river and it was brilliant to see new faces turn up and challenged themselves to their first 5km run!!

Special shout out to Gabby Pettit and Ange Longey who both ran 5km to finish off a brilliant year of running training. We are proud of you!!

We will still have our social run on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, however, as you are all aware, Jordan Lovell is banned from all pram duties.
