Hello members,


We are loving the great energy and positivity throughout our sessions. There is nothing better than seeing new friendships blossom and old ones rekindle.


Class Arrivals

Just a little reminder to everyone to arrive on time for your classes as the instructors aim to get the class started as close to the scheduled time as possible.

We encourage all Pilates participants to arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the class starting as this class is 45 minutes including meditation at the end and requires a prompt start. Once the class is finished, please take your beautiful energy and chatting outside and we can start the next fabulous class. We want to ensure everyone gets to maximise their time in the class.


Thank you so much for supporting our instructors with cleaning and packing the room up, it certainly doesn’t go unnoticed and we appreciate it.


RMC Social Event

Well done to everyone who braved the cold Huon Valley morning. Congratulations to our runners who challenged themselves in their 5km time trial.

Loved having Xanthe back from her European summer vacation and a special shout out to Ezra Thomas, Jenna Driessen, Kate Kruse and Paige Lynch on completing their first time trial. You should be so proud of yourself.

Upcoming Running Events

Did someone say, trail running? YES! With a quieter upcoming July/August period on the Tasmanian road running scene, we will start to turn our attention to some of Tasmania's most beautiful trail running events coming up!



RUSSEL FALLS TRAIL RUN - Russell Falls is an ideal beginners trail run –or just a whole heap of fun for the more experienced trail runner!! It takes in a couple of the most beautiful waterfalls in Tassie as well as some of Tassie's tallest trees. The trail is pretty much wheel chair standard, except for the stairs!


TOLOSA HALF AND QUARTER TRAIL RUN - This is an authentic mountain half-marathon that offers incredible diversity and is challenging. Runners in both events will leave the edge of suburbia, before the open woodland gradually morphs into a denser and greener mixed forest. From towering eucalypts to the lichen-ridden dolerite, the Tolosa Half and Quarter have it all. Runners will need to navigate some technical rocky terrain, but overall, these are courses that flow very well.

The Tolosa Quarter (Sport | 9.8km) sees runners turn around at the Old Hobartians Track while the Tolosa Half runners will keep going for more jaw-dropping views and intricate hand-made wooden bridges, to The Springs, which are approximately the halfway point. Then it’s a beautifully flowing descent along the purpose-built North-South track.


DOVER FUNRUN - Boasting one of the most scenic fun run routes, the Dover Fun Run takes runners along the foreshore of Port Esperance, with stunning views of the bay and the iconic Adamsons Peak. The Dover Fun Run (Tassal Ten and Annabelle’s Run) was born out of a long-standing desire to give back to the community, in thanks for the wonderful support for the Skinner family in their time of need. This running event is a fundraiser! All profits will go the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the Royal Hobart Hospital. You can also donate to PICU during the registration or on the day. Online registrations close Friday, 3 November 2023 at 11 pm. Numbers are limited!

**6am - Don't forget head torches**

Check your booking system for location of run sessions.

Tuesday 25th of July (Short progressive intervals)

4 x 2 min effort (90s between)

4 x 60s effort (60s between)

4 x 30s efforts (45s between)


14 min of running + 12:15 recovery = 26:15 total

Thursday 27th of July (Tempo and intervals)

3 x 5 min efforts (2 min recovery between)

5 x 30s efforts (45s recovery between)


17:30 running + 9 min recovery = 26:30

STRENGTH SESSIONS


FOCUS THIS WEEK IS LOADED


This week we are having a new focus called LOADED


Basically all exercises require sustained muscular tension/activation and therefore throughout the movement there is no recovery or relaxation of the muscle group.


You will be required to maintain continued muscular activation throughout the movement including shoulder setting and pelvic control (glute and trunk activation) and encouraged to avoid muscle tension as you progress through the exercise.


We would suggest light to moderate resistance and if you notice technique impacted then encouraging a low weight.


This is a fantastic focus for muscular endurance which is vital for functional outcomes.


GENERAL CLASS REMINDERS

  • Please take SWEAT TOWELS and drink bottles with you throughout the session.

  • Please advise the instructor if you have any new or old injuries that they should be aware of or will impact your training. We will support you with your exercise and provide alternative exercises.

  • Please be prompt to classes as we aim to start demonstration on time.
