Hello to members new and old,


What another massive week of training and racing it has been. It's so good to see a heap of new members join up in the last 2 weeks. If you see new faces around the RMC studio or out at our Run/Walk sessions, make sure you introduce yourself and make them feel welcomed!


All of our usual segments are below with details of the week it's been plus the training plan for the week ahead. Keep an eye out this week for an announcement this week for our next RMC social event.

Timetable

 

Social Saturday (Time trial)

7am crew!

We hit it off early again this Saturday due to the heat (which only came in the afternoon!). Good to see the 7am and 8am groups running well. Although we had smaller numbers this week, the times were quality and a number of PB's were hit! Well done to all that came out for a run.

Night of 5's!

A huge congratulations to Darcy Callaghan, Tommy Stevenson, Karen Weger and Sally Battin for heading up to the Hobart athletics track at the Domain for the night of 5s track event. The events purpose is to introduce track running to the general public and to those recreational runners who might not have ever run on a track before in a more casual setting.


Although the evening proved to be tough conditions (31.5c and 25.5km winds at 5pm!) it was a lot of fun and we are so proud of all of our RMC attendees pushing themselves on a challenging night and experiencing something new for the first time, 5k on the track is a beast!

 

Upcoming Running Events


Below is some details on upcoming running events. The night of 5s is only two weeks away and we would love to see as many RMC'ers at the athletics track as possible. This is a great opportunity for those that have never ran on the synthetic athletics track before.


RUN THE BRIDGE: Run Move Connect has entered a team for this year's "Run The Bridge" fun run. The event will be held in Hobart on Sunday the 5th of March. This is one of Tasmania's premier running events that sees all participants journey over the iconic Tasman Bridge! We would love to see as many RMC members at the event as possible. HOBART AIRPORT MARATHON FESTIVAL: Run Move Connect has entered a team for this years "Hobart Airport Marathon Festival". The event starting points are around the Constitution Dock and will finish in the heart of Salamanca on Sunday the 2nd of April. The inaugural event was held last year where RMC was represented well, this year we want to better our attendance numbers! See below for your session plans this week-


Tuesday 31st of January (30s reps with diminishing recoveries)

3 sets of


30s on - 60s off

30s on - 50s off

30s on - 40s off

30s on - 30s off

30s on - 20s off

30s on - 10s off

30s on - 2 min rest


10:30 min running + 14:30 recovery time = 25:00 total

Thursday 2nd of Feb (Tempo reps + Short reps)

4 x 3min @ tempo (90s recovery between)

4 x 1 min @5-3k effort (60s recovery between)

16 min running + 9 min recovery time = 25 min

Strength Session Details

FOCUS THIS WEEK IS SINGLE LIMB LOADING:

  • Focus on trunk control, trunk alignment, knee stability, upper body mobility and movement patterns.

  • Light- moderate resistance but focus on slow movement with great technique.

  • Challenge your stability but be mindful that upper body stability is very hard when loaded to heavy.


STRENGTH CLASS GENERAL REMINDERS

  • Always chat to Hannah if you want to learn more about resistance exercise and its benefits.

  • All sessions are designed and developed by Hannah, if you have any feedback, please pass it on.

  • If you have any new or old injuries that you are carrying, please don't hesitate to let Hannah or Brad know so we can tailor the program to you. It is so important for you to feel supported and cared for at your Run Move Connect sessions.

  • Please take SWEAT TOWELS and drink bottles with you throughout the session. We have new RMC sweat towels, don't hesitate to purchase one if you struggling to find one.
