07/04 - 20/04 Fortnightly Newsletter For Run Move Connect Members!

Good Afternoon RMC'ers,

Supporting the amazing individuals in our local community is one of the most powerful ways to create positive change. By getting bedhind those who are making a difference, we amplify their impact and inspire others to do the same. Together, we can build a strong, more connected community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. We would like to take this opportunity to celebrate local hero Matt Duggan, in his epic journey to raise awareness and money for bowel cancer.

Matt is undertaking an ambitious challenge by running from Cockle Creek to Stanley, Tasmania - a distance of over 550km in just 12 days! That's the equivalent of running a marathon every single day! This remarkable feat is not only about pushing his physical limits but also about bringing attention to a cause that affects so many in our community. Every step Matt takes represents the strength and resilience of those battling bowel cancer. Together with Reba Sear, Run Move Connect are dedicating our Social Saturday to this incredible cause.

Matt's Social Saturday Fundraiser details

Strength Session Details for upcoming fortnight.

Week starting 07.04.2025

Strength Class Focus: Bodyweight, band and slider

Building body awareness and stability through challenging proproception and reaction. We will use minimal props and use our bodies as feedback and developing good movement control. This week, all though reducing weight, it still requires the maintenance of core endurance, upper body posture and hip control.

There is an endurance component that challenges our functional capacity therefore recorrect technique if you lose positioning.

Week starting 14.05.2025

Strength Class Focus: Endurance

Similar to the week before, endurance is a big focus over these next couple of weeks. We reduce weight but increase overall repetitions. This repetitive movement pattern mimics every day activities that can support function. Remember pelvic tuck, core activation, knee alignment and shoulder posture. When we fatigue, poor technique comes in to play to compensate, therefore, reset and slow the movement down to avoid injury and overuse.

Pilates Session Details for upcoming fortnight.

Week beginning 07/4

Pilates Principle: Precision

In the world of Pilates, there's a key principle that stands out for its ability to transform the way we approach exercise - 'precision'.

This principle isn't just about getting the moves right, its about performing each movement with intention, control and correct alignment to get the maximum benefit from every session. Regardless of your experience practicing pilates, the focus on precision can elevate your practice, helping you improve strength, flexibility and overall body awarness.

Week beginning  14/04

 Pilates Principle: Flow

Pilates is known for its emphasis on controlled movements, strength and flexibility. One of the core principles that underpins every pilates practice is 'flow' - the seamless transition from one exercise to the next. It's more than just smooth movement, and when applied correctly enhances the continual activation of muscle groups and increases stamina and overall strength.
