19/08/24 Weekly Newsletter For Run Move Connect Members!

Good Afternoon RMC'ers,

This week is a great week to try something new- all sessions about establishing your foundations. Setting your foundations to strength, core activation and cardiovascular endurance. We love that all sessions can be progressed and regressed, why not have a taste of all classes.

Please find all your usual training detail segments and extras below. We can't wait to see you all for another big week of RMC sessions!

Introducing our Mentors

Brendan Callaghan

Brendan is a very integral member of our Run Move Connect community, along side his beautiful family. In class, Brendan enjoys making you all smile, inventing new exercises and using equipment as props to impersonate a person playing sport.

Outside of RMC classes Brendan is a Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant, competes in DTL (Down The Line) Clay Targets, and supporting Darcy on his fishing expeditions.

Brendan is an incredible ally to so many people and we feel very priveledged to have his knowledge, expertise and personality amongst us.

Jordan Lovell and Jake Norris

The next two mentors are husbands of Coaches, Hannah and Alex. Jordan Lovell and Jake Norris are family men, enjoy spending their Sundays on the golf course and don't mind drinking copious amounts of coffee at Reba Sear on a Saturday morning.

Jordan describes himself as a very keen but inconsistent RMC member but is very motivated to support his new youth members. He tends to turn up to classes without booking and the instructors have to keep a close eye on his technique. Running comes a lot easier to him, after completing two marathons over this year, Jordan is a very determined and driven person. With this mindset, and experience in his job, Jordan will bring the best out in his youth participant, ensuring they feel guided but very supported.

Jake is another impressive individual to have part of our group of mentors. Jake works locally in a leadership role and understands the benefit of a mentor and how this role plays an integral part of an individuals growth, development and confidence.

Jake is very giving of his time, will do anything to ensure those around him feel comfortable and is very passionate about getting to know individuals.

Social Saturday

Another hill conquered for our Social Saturday in preparation for the Hilltop Hike . The weather was bleak but certainly did stop our runner and walkers heading up the hill for a beautiful view.

Thinking about attending Social Saturday?

Our Social Saturday morning are for walkers, runners, furry friends and whoever wants to kick start their weekend with movement, coffee and great company.

We begin our loop from Reba Sear at 8am every Saturday. Choose a 5km loop or simply have a nice trot around Huonville. Return back to Reba Sear for a hot drink, something to eat or head off to start your weekend.

Running Events + Running Info

RMC Runners Facebook Group

An RMC Runners Facebook group has been made to help connect runners of RMC through social runs outside of organised RMC sessions, post any details in regards to upcoming events, Sunday long run loops, etc. If you or someone you might know wants to join this group, just search "RMC Runners" on Facebook and request to join the group.

Bruny Island Ultra

One of our favourite Running events in Tasmania seems a long way away but planning the logistics of the event should be starting now! The Bruny Island Ultra is an event that can be completed as a team "relay" style where 2km checkpoints are set out on course to swap to your next runner and complete the island from North to South!

Step 1 - Make a team! Teams can be any size from 2 runners up to 10 (if you want to qualify for the top prize, a maximum of 6 runners is allowed).

Step 2 - Book accommodation ASAP! If you are looking at staying the night before the event to get an early start, or don't want to rush off and enjoy to post race celebrations, look at securing some accommodation now (because it will all sell out shortly).

Step 3 - Enter your team! Entries open on The 1st of September and you can guarantee, this event will sell out fast!

Not sure where to start on making a team? Put your name down on THIS GOOGLE SHEET and we can help put together teams together of RMC

If you would like to know more about the event, feel free to reach out to Coach Brad or Coach Norris to discuss any details you need!

Hilltop Hike

The Hilltop Hike unites our community to raise significant funds and awareness for youth mental health in the Huon Valley. The Hilltop Hike features a two-kilometre run or walk up Scenic Hill in Huonville, drawing participants from all walks of life. The hike not only raises funds but also serves as a powerful reminder of the community's commitment to mental health and suicide prevention. Originating from the tragic loss of young lives to suicide, the Hilltop Hike aims to shine a spotlight on these critical issues, fostering a united front of local community, businesses, and families championing the cause.

RMC was so well represented in last years event, we would love to see an ever bigger turn out this year in what will be a morning to remember. Whether your a runner or a walker, we encourage you to rally your mates together and join Team Run Move Connect (CLICK HERE).

Pilates Session

🌀 FOUNDATION FOCUS🌀

What makes Pilates practise unique to other movements is the intentional focus and engagement to your centre. Pilates exercises all stem from the origin of the core. On a fundamental level when we are able to connect to our deep abdominal muscles by using our breath we are then able to achieve stability and build strength and mobility. In principle; we strengthen from the inside out.

This week we return to consolidate our knowledge and awareness of our foundational movements in our bodies so we can continue to move our bodies more efficiently, safely and effectively.

Pilates PULSE

Low to moderate intensity intervals based on time goals. Pilates exercises include the use of body weight and small equipment (bands, ball and weights). Available to all abilities and bodies. Class focus is to build endurance, strength and cardiovascular fitness. Great for those wanting a sweaty cardio session.

Pilates FORM

Slower paced functional class. Exercise layers are reduced to focus on precision, form and breath. A great foundational class to receive increased support and hands on correction. Excises always commence at most regressed level with the intention to realign posture and support every day activity.

A great class for clients new to Pilates, those with existing health challenges or returning to exercise, pregnancy as well as those wanting to strengthen foundational movements.

Pilates FLOW

This class includes a mix of modern and traditional Pilates exercises with progressions offered to those seeking further challenge.

Session includes release/stretch work throughout as well as periods of increased effort to create a balanced total body session.
