10/10/2022 - Weekly newsletter for Run Move Connect members!

Hello Members New and Old,

We hope that you have had a lovely weekend and enjoying daylight savings!!! All of our session info can be found below as well as some housekeeping notes on kids at classes, and and a 5km time trial this Social Saturday.

We're looking forward to seeing you all through out the week.

Timetable update:

No changes to our timetable this week. We are very happy with our new look timetable and will continue to monitor and add classes when required.

Waitlist

We have our waitlist up and running!

If there is a specific time you were after then jump on the waitlist and you'll be sure to secure a spot. When you're on the waitlist and a spot becomes available, a notification will be sent to your phone via the Spaces app. If you don't yet have the spaces app, follow the link at the bottom of this newsletter.

Our advice is to get in early with your booking as certain times fill up quickly.

If you have any concerns with this, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Youth Engagement Program

A HUGE shoutout goes to all of our young guns who have signed up with RMC's Youth Engagement Program. We are absolutely delighted to see so many families enjoying exercising together and being part of our community.

All RMC coaches and members have been impressed by the youthful enthusiasm from all of our current participants and their willingness to learn new exercises and training techniques.

Brad and Hannah are very passionate about getting the whole community moving and this includes our Huon Valley youth. This program is tailored for 10-18 year olds within our community who are interested in getting active.

If you know of any young member of our community who may be interested, please do not hesitate to email Brad or Hannah at hello@runmoveconnect.com.au

Social Saturday recap

Awesome effort to all who came out for a run Saturday morning. One of our young guns Darcy Callaghan took the spotlight of the morning, running his first sub 25 min 5km clocking in at around 24:45. Not bad for a 11 year old!

For our next Social Saturday run/walk (15/10/22) we will run our 5k time trial with all results recorded for those that would like. This is a good opportunity to try and run a 5km PB and have a good hit out before some upcoming fun runs!

Running/Walking news and events

DOVER FUN RUN only 4 weeks away!

"The Dover Fun Run (Tassal Ten and Annabelle’s Run) was born out of a long-standing desire to give back to the community, in thanks for the wonderful support for the Skinner family in their time of need. Little Annabelle was just 17 months old when she was involved in a freak accident resulting in a horrific head injury. Annabelle and her family spent anxious weeks by her side in Hobart’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. With expert care and attention Annabelle made a full recovery and is now a happy healthy 8 year old.

At the time of her injury, Annabelle’s parents Gemma and John became very aware of the pressures that the Hobart PICU faced, and they began to toy with the idea of holding a community Fun Run to support the Paediatric Unit. After 4 years, they were finally able to make it happen with the support of local community group, Far South Future, and many generous volunteers.

The first Dover Fun Run was held in 2019, and attracted 250 runners, raising $7072 for the PICU. Despite COVID challenges they've managed to make the Fun Run an annual event- the third event in 2021 was again well attended by runners and families from all over Tasmania. Dover Fun Run raised over $8000 for Hobart’s Paediatric Unit in 2021 and hope to increase this further in 2022!

We would love to see as many RMC runners and walkers at this event to support such a worthy cause. Registration and event information can be found here.

  • If you have any new or old injuries that you are carrying, please don't hesitate to let Hannah or Brad know so we can tailor the program to you. It is so important for you to feel supported and cared for at your Run Move Connect sessions.

  • Please take SWEAT TOWELS and drink bottles with you throughout the session. We have new RMC sweat towels, don't hesitate to purchase one if you struggling to find one.

Kiddies in strength classes!

It has been important to Hannah and Brad, since starting Run Move Connect, that all classes are as welcoming and inclusive as possible, especially for parents of young children. We allow parents to bring their children to sessions but would like to reiterate that it is the parents responsibility to ensure an environment that is comfortable and safe for everyone in the space. Please make sure we watch out for our little weightlifters around the equipment, make sure they are not becoming a tripping hazard for any members and to please clean up after them if they are having something to eat in the studio.

We love having kids coming to watch mum or dad work out, its inspiring! Please just keep the above points in mind for their own and our members safety. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.
