13/06/22 - Weekly newsletter for Run Move Connect members!

Hello members! We hope you are all enjoying the start of your long weekend. What another great week of exercise from you all. It's so good to see everyone enjoying a heap of sessions through out the week. It's great to see a positive, fun group culture starting to form. It's so good to be able to exercise with people but it's another thing to enjoy it with great personalities like yourselves and to have a laugh along the way!

This weeks timetable has no changes even with the public holiday on Monday. We want everyone to enjoy their long weekend and know that we'll be ready to go Monday night for a couple of strength sessions at 5pm & 6pm with Hannah!

We look forward to seeing you all throughout the week.

This weeks running session details

Run session Tuesday 14/06/22

"fartlek"

5 repetitions of -

2:30 min steady, 60s recovery, 30s hard, 60s recovery

Working between a steady pace for our 2:30 min efforts and shorter sharper 30s efforts. Recovering at whatever pace we need to for 60s between reps. A great workout to shift between 2 different intensities. As always, we will start conservative and aim to finish the session strong! 25 mins of solid work.

Run session Thursday 16/06/22

"4 min Tempo efforts":

4 or 5 reps of -

4 min tempo, 2 mins recovery.

A lot of our sessions have been shifting between intensities and playing around with different paces. This session will be all about locking into that "comfortable hard" zone for all of our 4 mins reps. Some will do 4, some will do 5. 2 minutes recovery for everyone to reset and go again. This is aimed to be a feel good session and a good opportunity for some runners to progress the volume of their running.

This weeks strength session notes

  • Please remember to bring a towel and drink bottle to all sessions!

  • All exercises will be explained in detail with demonstrations provided.

  • Aim to arrive 5-10 minutes prior to sessions starting. This will allow to time to chat with Hannah if required and to ensure we start all sessions on time.

R.M.C. more than a exercise class?

This week saw the start of a 10 week "Introduction to Strength Training" program for Huonville High students held at the Huon Valley PCYC. Run Move Connect coaches Hannah and Brad will facilitate the program. This structured block strength training is to develop the foundations needed to exercise in the community

Run Move Connect are bridging the gap between supervised exercise and independent exercise. We understand that students benefit from supervised exercise and we believe that a supportive community exercise group is a fantastic stepping stone to independent, unsupervised exercise. We believe that youth should be engaged with the community and know community members, as good foundations for life.

A big thanks to the Huon Valley PCYC for getting us involved!

Social event! - Thanks to all who helped us celebrate our 1st month of Run Move Connect. It was a fantastic evening at Willie Smiths and great to have the time to catch up with everyone in a casual setting. We would love to do more social catch ups and will aim for at least one a month, so keep an eye out.

Apparel info coming soon.

R.M.C. will be soon releasing a line of apparel. We're thinking beanies, caps, shirts etc. If you have any ideas on what else we should be getting please let us know.

DON'T FORGET!

All of our Run Move Connect members receive a 12.5% DISCOUNT on all shoes from The Running Edge. The Running Edge provide a free gait analysis and expert shoe advice to make sure your walking (or running) away with the right pair of shoes for you!
