Hello Members New and Old,


We hope that you have had a lovely weekend and looking forward to another amazing week ahead.


Hobart Marathon:

Congratulations to our members who participated in the Inaugural Hobart Marathon Festival today. It was absolutely beautiful to see bright smiling faces at the start and finish line. We are all very proud of you and we can wait to see more Run Move Connect members take on the challenge in the upcoming events, either walking or running!

It was a brilliantly organised event and there was a race for the whole family, including our little tikes.

The Travelling Kitto:

Brad is away this week enjoying a much deserved holiday in Sydney with Ed. Jordan will be taking morning sessions and Hannah will be taking the afternoon sessions with the support of Bren "The Godfather" Callaghan and Shaunny "PB King" Wolfe.


All sessions have been designed by Brad. Please see below for the weekly Walk/Running sessions.



 

Timetable Changes:


We are changing our class timetable to align with daylight savings- Monday 3rd of October.


Our goal at Run Move Connect is to provide of training program that is sustainable and allows all members to manage their training load appropriately. This new timetable ensures that there are adequate rest periods between strength sessions ensuring your body recovers well and you are prepared for the next scheduled session. We also believe balancing resistance and cardiovascular exercise is important for your overall health and wellbeing.


If you are unsure about the Run/Walk sessions, then please don't hesitate to contact Brad or come and try. It is fantastic for beginners and a brilliant way to get moving safely. All walk/running sessions, like the strength sessions, can be modified to meet your fitness level and physical capacity.

Youth Engagement Program


Brad and Hannah are very passionate about getting the whole community moving and this includes our Huon Valley youth. Run Move Connect are proud to announce a Youth Engagement program which provides 10 youths in our community a 6-week all-inclusive pass to RMC sessions. This program is tailored for 10-18 year olds who are interested in getting active within our community.


"This program will provide these young people with an opportunity to better understand the benefits of exercise and fitness training on their overall health and wellbeing. The project will be aimed at young people who are not currently engaged with a community group that promotes a healthy lifestyle and will promote the benefits of being part of such"

Social Saturday recap


Yesterday marked 1 year since Run Group began and what an amazing year that has been.


Socials Saturdays have become so much more than a run group. It’s a time where friendships are made, problems are solved, coffee is consumed, and businesses are created (Run Move Connect)!

Socials Saturdays will always remain a free, no obligation event for anyone that would like to join. So come along tomorrow morning in your footy colours and get involved in this wonderful community.

Running/Walking session details


Tuesday- 27th of September

"Steady/hard/recovery fartlek

4 sets of -

4 min steady

1 min harder

2 min recovery

(26 min in total)

Control the 4 min tempo in that "comfortably hard" zone. 1 min rep can give it a little bit more of a nudge whilst being consistant over the 4 sets. Recover well in the 2 mins, walk or jog slow if possible.


Thursday- 29th September

"Diminishing intervals"

2 sets of -

4 min @ tempo

1 min recovery

2 min @ 5k pace

1 min recovery

1 min @ 3k pace

1 min recovery

30s harder

1 min recovery

Be sure to start conservative in the 4 min rep as each rep after that is aiming to be faster. 30s effort is not a sprint, but a hard effort. Aim for your 2nd set to be faster than the first!

Running/Walking news and events

A bunch of our RMC runners and walkers will have an exciting few months ahead with a large number of events available to participate in. Below is some of the events on the Tassie running calendar, that coach Brad, thinks would be great for our members to work towards.


Running can be challenging, but creating short term goals and entering these type of events is a really good way to stay motivated and engaged with our training. If you are interested in participating in any of the events below, please let Brad or Hannah know as we will create RMC teams for the registration process.


Dover Fun Run Tassal Ten Sun 6th November

Events available- 2km kids, 5km, 10km

Point to Pinnacle Sun 20th November

Events available- 10km, half mara

Bruny Island Ultra marathon Sat 3rd December

Events available- 64km done as a team relay of up to 10 runners. (for more info on this one chat to Brad).

Cadbury Marathon Sun 8th Jan

Events available- 1km kids, 5km, 10km, half mara, full mara

 

Strength Session Details


  • Remember we are a child friendly environment and we love that we can provide families to opportunity to exercise with their loved ones. We have been looking in to child minding during the 9am sessions, so please keep an eye out for any further updates.

  • All sessions are designed and developed by Hannah, if you have any feedback, please pass it on.

  • If you have any new or old injuries that you are carrier, please don't hesitate to let Hannah or Brad know so we can tailor the program to you. It is so important for you to feel supported and cared for at your Run Move Connect sessions.


  • Please take SWEAT TOWELS and drink bottles with you throughout the session. We have new RMC sweat towels, don't hesitate to purchase one if you struggling to find one.
