Hilltop Hike

Next Saturday 12th of October

The Hilltop Hike unites our community to raise significant funds and awareness for youth mental health in the Huon Valley. The Hilltop Hike features a two-kilometre run

or walk up Scenic Hill in Huonville, drawing participants from all walks of life. The hike not only raises funds but also serves as a powerful reminder of the community's commitment to mental health and suicide prevention. Originating from the tragic loss of young lives to suicide, the Hilltop Hike aims to shine a spotlight on these critical issues, fostering a united front of local community, businesses, and families championing the cause.

RMC was so well represented in last years event, we would love to see an ever bigger turn out this year in what will be a morning to remember. Whether your a runner or a walker, we encourage you to rally your mates together and join Team Run Move Connect (CLICK HERE).

School Holidays at RMC

A reminder message from Dylan and team RMC:

We are well and truly in to school holidays at RMC and we love it!! Have a look at the fun the kids are having with Dylan. They have been playing Mushroom Tag, soccer, Fun Factory Tag and so much more. The kids are just as social as their parents.

RMC understands the challenges of squeezing exercise in with busy family's, even more so during the school holidays.

For the next week of school holidays, RMC will be putting on an extra staff member for the 9am Strength sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday to assist Dylan Lovell in having fun and keeping all the kids busy on the courts downstairs!

We encourage you to bring the kids along to the 9am session, we can't thank the PCYC enough for allowing us to use the space downstairs to entertain the little ones whilst the parents get their exercise in upstairs!

Movement Through Parenthood

We love seeing our parents enjoy their Movement Through Parenthood (MTP) sessions, alongside their cute babies. MTP is a fantastic program for mothers on their pregnancy journey wanting to be guided on the appropriate exercises to complete throughout their gestation. MTP is seeing many mothers begin their exercise journey, post partum. They learn about slow and progressive loading, pelvic and abdominal activation, developing foundational movement patterns to reduce the risk of injury and promote safe recovery.

This is a beautiful group of parents that are supporting each other and holding a safe space to discuss the challenges that parenthood brings.

Paige and Hannah have enjoyed learning and growing through this incredible program plus soaking up ALL the baby cuddles.

Strength Session Details for upcoming fortnight.

Week starting 07.10.2024

Strength Class Focus: Stability and Balance

  • This is a very light week this week and our whole focus is stable and controlled movements.

  • We have had a big couple of weeks of loading and our bodies need a little recovery week before strength load next week.

  • Stability week is building on proprioception and understanding where your body is in space.

  • This is fantastic for improving trunk stability, pelvic control and developing our foundational movement patterns.

  • Build your house on cement and not sand. This will reduce the risk of injury, create awareness of compensatory movements that we have been conditioned to do and develop understandings of how correct these habits.

Week starting 14.10.2024

Strength Class Focus: Strength Loading

  • This week is heavy load with very basic movement patterns.

  • If you feel comfortable with your technique then you can challenge how heavy the weight is.

  • There is not pressure this week to load and you can use this time to develop your understanding of lifting techniques and how to develop them further.

  • This is a fantastic benchmark and to see your progression. If you would like us to record this, let us know.

🏃🏻Healthy Hips🏃🏽‍♀️‍➡️

Did you know having healthy, strong hips can lead to better balance, stability and overall health from head to toe?

Our hips help control full body movement by supporting the pelvis and core in order to form a strong foundation for the legs and arms to move from!

If the hip muscles aren’t performing properly, our bodies will overcompensate in other areas which can lead to overuse and repetitive stress injuries.

The most effective way to target your hips is to ensure proper alignment and posture.

As our abdominal & hip muscles work closely together, classes this week will provide exercise sequences to strengthen them both at the same time!

Bruny Island Ultra

One of our favourite Running events in Tasmania seems a long way away but planning the logistics of the event should be starting now! The Bruny Island Ultra is an event that can be completed as a team "relay" style where 2km checkpoints are set out on course to swap to your next runner and complete the island from North to South!

Step 1 - Make a team! Teams can be any size from 2 runners up to 10 (if you want to qualify for the top prize, a maximum of 6 runners is allowed).

Step 2 - Book accommodation ASAP! If you are looking at staying the night before the event to get an early start, or don't want to rush off and enjoy to post race celebrations, look at securing some accommodation now (because it will all sell out shortly).

Step 3 - Enter your team! Entries open on The 1st of September and you can guarantee, this event will sell out fast!

If you would like to know more about the event, feel free to reach out to Coach Brad or Coach Norris to discuss any details you need!
